DIGITAL CONTENT PRODUCERS

The DIGITAL CONTENT PRODUCERS (DCP) program is an interactive learning experience for activating students in the skills and techniques of producing digital content using digital communications tools for web publishing, social media, multimedia, and more.

DCP: WEB PUBLISHING

This program focuses on the introduction and rapid development of web publishing skills in students, so that they can competently create and publish original content to the internet without having to first learn how to code. DCP:WP focuses on building foundational comfort with the overall processes of planning, designing, and developing a fully-functional responsive website. As students complete the milestones in this course they are encouraged to experiment with features and concepts for their website. This discovery process not only builds new and existing STEM (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, MATH) skills, but also acts as an on-ramp to further exploration into learning how to code a website or web application. Additionally, DCP:WP is meant to integrate directly into Project Based Learning (PBL) as a direct  student deliverable or as a journal of their PBL process.

WHAT A DCP:WP GRADUATE SOUNDS LIKE

I built a website about my project

Participants complete a single-page or multi-page website consisting of multiple blocks of content.  This website will work on computers, tablets, and mobile phones.

I understood and used current digital communication platforms & tools to support my project

By following frameworks for developing their content, participants can clearly articulate the goal for their content, and how they will communicate it.  They then build the website using an innovative website builder.

I made it easy for others to engage with my website

While simply sharing information is useful, particpants include ways for their website visitors to engage with their content. Through the use of forms or other social media methods, students create a website that users will return to.

I presented how my website addresses a specific problem I care about

The last phase of the program involves presentations by participants about their problem statement and their approach to solving it through their created website.
